1. Program Introduction/项目简介

School is out, vacation is here and our fun doesn't stop at Mandarin Summer Camp!

Students tend to forget a lot of material they learned from school due to the lack of exposure and practice during the 3-month long summer break. This kind of phenomenon can be seen more commonly in learning Mandarin. Moreover, Summer is also the best time for children and teenagers to explore new things and learn new skills that could potentially inspire them to explore the “unknown side” of themselves.

2. Program Objectives/项目宗旨

–To provide fun, communal and corporate atmosphere for Mandarin Immersion.

–To offer the lessons and resources needed for a smooth transition from Summer break back to Mandarin classes in school year.

–To promote more inspiring and entertaining events and activities for cultural exploration.

–To introduce a gateway to learning Mandarin in a more engaging way for students who have never had exposure to Mandarin before.

3. Program Layout/项目设计

Our summer camp is offered for students in Grades preK-8 and is composed of 3 sessions, and each lasting 2 weeks, making the total length of the program 6 weeks long from June 8 July 15.

Each day is composed of two parts, Morning Cultural & Historical Exploration and Afternoon Culture Enrichment Activities. A specific theme will be assigned to each session, and the weekly course curriculum, enrichment activities and field trips will be particularly designed for that theme.

Campers will need to bring their own healthy lunch, snack, and drinks Monday through Friday.

Mask is required until further notice.

5. Program Schedule/项目时间表

Session 1: June 06 ~ Jun 17 The Little explorers （小小探险家）

Curious about camping? Hurrah, it's time to pitch a tent!

Pack your bags with us for wilderness adventures. Enjoy the great outdoors: Campfires and Roast marshmallows, Making a Compass Ring & Bean Bag Toss, Camouflage dress up, exploring nature and much more!!! These events take place not only at our school site but also at Ocean Beach and Golden Gate Park.

Mandarin language skills related to things like animals, plants, weather and directions are incorporated into activities.

Session 2: June 21 ~ July 01 The Little Musician （小小音乐家）

We got confirmation from the SFUSD that public schools (including Lawton) will be closed on June 20(Monday) in observance of Juneteeth. So our Mandarin summer camp is also closed.
Juneteeth is on June 19th, Sunday. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday will be treated as a holiday.

六月节是在6月19日星期日，对大部分联邦雇员来说，如果假日是在星期天，那么接下来的星期一会被安排为假日。

Do you love music? No matter what your answer is, you'd better don't miss our best relaxed session before the back-to-school season. Enjoy and learn the Chinese Traditional Opera would be so interesting. Pop songs in China are very pleasant to learn.

Session 3: July 05 ~ July 15 Happy Chinese Holiday （快乐中国节）

Summer Camp is closed on July 4th, Monday

Discover the ancient and modern traditions of China through stories, plays, songs and flashcards.
By celebrating holidays such as Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival etc. students can experience traditional Chinese festivals from different regions of China and learn the fundamental teachings of Chinese writing and language history.

Treasure Hunt in Golden Gate Park We will bring our campers to the Golden Gate Park for a Scavenger Hunt field trip, which will require them to utilize what they have learned and practiced during the week to unlock all the achievements.

Have fun in Sunset Playground

In addition to a recreation center, the site has two tennis courts, a basketball court, a baseball field, children's play areas, and a small community garden.

Go picnic at Ocean Beach Picture a 3.5-mile stretch of wile beach with few tourists and no highrises. It's just you and the waves and the seabirds at Ocean Beach. Let's go picnic, camping, strolling and flying kites.
